CW Releases Premiere Dates
Finally. I’d been waiting on these dates. I must admit most of the shows I watch on broadcast tv are on the CW. As I stated earlier this week I am particularly excited for the Batwoman premiere (Sunday Jan.17). (TVLine)
John David Washington Is 'Born To Be Murdered'
John David Washington is stuntin like his daddy. Sorry I’ve been dying to say that. For those who don’t know, he’s Denzel Washington’s son. Yes, THE Denzel Washington. Anyway, the younger Washington’s acting career has been on fire since his starring turn in Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman (2018). Well, his latest film Born To Be Murdered,, costarring Alicia Vikander has been acquired by Netflix. Washington and Vikander portray a couple vacationing in Greece who gets caught up in a dangerous conspiracy. Ummm, yes definitely add this to the Must-See File. Stay tuned for further details regarding the release date and keep an eye out for the trailer. (THR)
Sandra Oh & Awkwafina To Play Sisters
Sandra Oh and Awkafina are teaming up to play sisters in a yet to be titled comedy for Netflix. Will Ferrell is producing. The story focuses on a recluse whose life is thrown into chaos when her estranged, hot mess of a sister returns wanting to mend fences by helping her fulfill her lifelong dream of being a contestant on her favorite game show. Add this to the yes file. (Deadline)
Whitney Houston Still Making History
Whitney Houston has become the first black artist to have three diamond albums. This means they are 10xPlatinum. Her second album 1987’s Whitney has just reached that legendary milestone. This album produced 4 #1 singles including ‘I Wanna Dance (With Somebody Who Loves Me)”,"Didn't We Almost Have It All," "So Emotional" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go". These chart-topping singles made her the first female artist with four consecutive #1s. We still miss you Whitney and probably always will. (Billboard)
Netflix Needs To Chill...
They’re raising prices again.. I mean I know all these new shows, movies, and stuff aren’t cheap but damn. They definitely better finally renew Wu Assassins. Okay, now that I have gotten that out of my system I understand the price increase. I really do, but understanding it and being happy about are two different things. (Variety)
John Ridley & Blumhouse's 'Project Poltergeist'
Oscar-winning filmmaker, John Ridley is writing and producing a new horror film for Blumhouse based on the first haunting in a public housing project. So basically it’s a Good Times ghost story. Interesting. Although I am not a big fan of horror movies, I may have to check this one out. I do like that black people and minorities are playing a big role in horror films, besides being the first victims. (THR)
