BE has landed BTS their fifth #1 album. The album was released on Nov 20 will bow at the top spot on the Billboard Hot 200 List. It’s their second album to debut at the top spot this year. Map of the Soul 7, released in February, also debuted at the top spot. BE. is already one of the highest performing albums of the year especially post-Rona. Be sure to tune into the popcast Wednesday for our full review of the BE album. (Billboard).
Disney/Marvel reworked the intro credits to Black Panther in honor of the late star Chadwick Boseman. I don’t know if this was his birthday present specifically, but the announcement came on what would have been his 44th birthday (Nov. 29). I am really interested to see how his legacy will be carried on in the sequel and future movies. I am glad that they are continuing the franchise, which will go back into production in July following the Rona induced delay. One of my favorite actors Riz Ahmed also gave a moving interview in Variety discussing how he was influenced by Chadwick Boseman. (Deadline)
The Grammys are just getting their asses handed to them left and right. Halsey is the latest artist to call out the Grammys over her snub(s). And just like The Weeknd and Justin Beiber she has a very valid point. The system does need to be more transparent. I get that inevitably someone is going to be disappointed because they didn’t get the nomination they felt they deserved but Halsey and The Weeknd aren’t being Bitter Betties or Petty Patties because they didn’t get nominated. They are rightfully calling out a system that seems to get more wrong than it does right, especially lately. Their complaints do not invalidate those who were nominated. It’s just a very complicated mixed bag. It’s a shame too because the Grammys are one of the most prestigious awards in all of entertainment and not just the music industry. (Variety)
