Michael Bae Jordan: Sexiest Man Alive 😍
People Magazine finally figured out what the rest of us already knew and officially named Michael B. Jordan the Sexiest Man Alive. It’s about time and what took so long? Although I won’t complain and just appreciate this gift from the gods as one of 2020’s few bright spots. Besides being hella sexy, he is actually an incredibly talented actor who just keeps getting better and better. I actually remember him from his All My Children days. (People)
NOTE: The photos accompanying the cover are not from the People spread. They are just some of my favorite Michael B. Jordan pics.
Malcolm & Marie & Oscar?
Netflix is really going after that Oscar. They’re releasing Malcolm & Marie, starring Zendaya and John David Washington, Feb.5, catapulting it smack dab into the middle of the Oscar race. The story centers around the relationship of a director (Washington) and his girlfriend (Zendaya) during one evening as they wait for the reviews of his latest premiere. So far all the early buzz around the movie has made it a critical darling, even garnering comparisons to Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf.?. The film was shot on 35mm and black and white. Sam Levinson wrote, directed, and produced along with Zendaya and Washington. It was the first film to be shot during quarantine. No one even knew about it, until it was done. I added this to the must-watch list from the moment I heard about it and the more I hear about it the closer to the top o fthe list it moves. (THR)
Later...
Stephen King’s latest book, Later, is scheduled to be released March 2. It’s being billed as a crime thriller. It is Stephen King after all, so you know it has elements of the supernatural interwoven throughout. It’s about Jamie Conklin, a little boy who uses his special abilities to help his mother and her police detective lover solve crimes, which comes at a horrible cost. I must say this sounds interesting. The book is being published by Hard Case Crime, making this his thrid book for them. He previously wrote The Colorado Kid (2005), which was adapted into one of my favorite tv shows, Haven, and Joyland (2013). I may have to break my rule and read a Stephen King book.😊, especially after reading this excerpt. What the hell it is 2020 after all. (EW)
It's Going To Be A Wonderful Christmas
A couple of days ago I wrote about Warner Brothers’ Wonder Woman:1984 dilemma. They were trying to decide when and how to release the movie after having had to push it back several times. Well, they decided not to push it back again until next summer. They are going to release the movie on Christmas Day in both theaters and on HBO Max, simultaneously. Why is WB forgoing the potential billion-dollar payday and releasing the movie on HBO Max? They are hoping to bring in subscribers. At any rate they are not charging any additional fees on top of the subscription fee to watch the movie. So it looks like I will get my Christmas Day movie this year after all. Every year on Christmas I go to the movies. This year the movies are coming to me. (Variety)
Bouncing Back
It seems like the NBA season just ended yesterday. Maybe that’s because it did. Okay so not literally yesterday, but it was just a few weeks ago. Big congrats to the Lakers again. As a Clippers fan, in normal times I would not be saying that but…it’s still 2020…. Anyway, the NBA has just announced its plans for the 20-21 season. The new season will begin on December 22nd ending on July 22nd. Their bubble gave the NBA the most successful reboot of any of the major sports teams. This time they won’t have a bubble and all teams will be playing a 72 game season with a play-in tournament at the end of the season giving the 7th thru 10th ranked teams in each conference a chance to vie for a playoff seed. We will see how they handle travel and trips to Magic City during this upcoming season. Go Clips. (ESPN)
