This week we journey back in time to the kingdom of Dahomey where we’re are offered a glimpse at one the fiercest warrior tribes in history, the Agojie. Based on a true story The Woman King tells the story of these fierce female warriors tasked with protecting their king and kingdom from threats both outside and within the kingdom. In an effort to do so the Agojie, led by their fearless leader Nancisca (Viola Davis) must prepare a new generation of warriors to meet the challenges they face on a daily basis.
